The origins of Santosh Dhaba dates back to 1969 when Mrs. Sushilabai Patel a devotee of Lord Santoshi Maa set up the restaurant in the name of the goddess to serve up the flavors from her childhood to her family and community in the Deccan.
Mrs. Sushilabai an avid foodie and entrepreneur at heart sourced indigenous spices and herbs from across the length and breadth of India to ensure that the authenticity of the ingredients was never compromised.
She set up ‘Santosh Vihar’ at Begum Bazaar in 1969 under the auspices of the Nawab. Under her guidance, the kitchen started serving up legendary North Indian fare that gave the large Rajasthani, Marwari and Punjabi communities based in Hyderabad a taste of home.

The Matriarch of the Patil family, Sushilabai’s inspiring energy and entrepreneurial spirit has been the driving force of Santosh Dhaba since the kitchen opened its doors in 1969. Her insistence on using authentic homestyle recipes and her eagle eye on ingredients and quality earned Santosh Dhaba the goodwill of the Hyderabadi community.
